Jul. 21st, 2001 03:25 pmI wasn't kidding apparently about basking in the glow of Bryan Ferry. There are two men on the planet who can pull off a silver lamé suit. Those men are David Bowie and Bryan Ferry. Anyone else would've borne a remarkable resemblance to the very large disco ball hanging over the stage. Add in the showgirls/go-go dancers, and I started to wonder if I hadn't been teleported to Vegas when I wasn't looking.
It was a great show, although it seemed really short. They didn't go on until a bit after 9, and we were on our way out by 10:30 or so. The crowd was pretty small (I think they let everyone with lawn tickets come in to the pavilion and take empty seats after the show started, since it was nowhere near sold out), but very enthusiastic; it ranged from the nattily-dressed folks in their late 40s or early 50s to the 20-ish girl in a PVC cheongsam. Interesting mix. I showed my lack of drooling fangirl status by not recognizing a fair part of the first section of the show, except for maybe "Ladytron". I freely admit though that I am a bit too young to have been part of the original fan base. =)
